Pilot Experience

Northern States Aviation employs pilots with exceptional experience, education, and initiative.  All pilots  possess college degrees in aviation, a commercial license and hold instrument pilot certification.  Northern States Aviation's selection process focuses on up-to- date knowledge of aviation techniques, weather and regulations, as well as the ability to perform effectively as a customer service representative. All NSA pilots maintain instrument currency and are able to conduct flight operations in instrument meteorological conditions at any time.

Northern States Aviation pilots collectively possess thousands of hours of flight experience in applications such as aerial mapping, pipeline and power line patrol, and corporate piloting.  Our pilots have extensive flight experience in congested airspace and have significant experience coordinating with ATC for access to the busiest class B airspace.

Our pilots meet our customers exacting requirements for accurate aircraft positioning.  On a daily basis they fly precise flight lines, continuously maintaining the aircraft within 150' of the desired center line, while simultaneously maintaining yaw, pitch, crab and airspeed within customer specified limits.  Pilots who fly with us develop exceptional piloting skills, obtain extensive experience in the busiest airspace, and fine- tune their customer service skills.

Through the variety of aerial mapping assignments, our pilots have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of geographic areas.  The following is a partial list of locations where our pilots have been assigned in the recent past:
